Professional Development Benefits

CAP professional development reimbursement program will now reimburse up to $3,500 per APP per fiscal year.

The following categories are eligible for reimbursement:

The ASPIRE Program for APP Professional Development recognizes outstanding Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who are dedicated to excellence and continued growth in their roles. Through targeted funding, the program rewards APPs who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing the profession and providing exceptional patient care.

Professional Protected Time (PPT)

The Professional Protected Time (PPT) program provides Advanced Practice Providers with dedicated, scheduled time during the workday to complete projects that advance clinical practice, education, leadership, research, and institutional priorities. APPs may request protected hours for eligible activities such as program development, policy creation, educational initiatives, or evidence-based practice. Approval is competitive and requires a defined project, clear deliverables, a coverage plan, and leadership endorsement.

UVA Health Continuing Education, provided by the University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing, is accredited by leading national councils to advance healthcare education through innovation, research, and collaboration. Relias is an online education platform tailored for healthcare professionals. It offers data-driven learning to improve clinical skills, compliance, and patient care—empowering lifelong growth and development.

How To Apply For Reimbursement

UPG APPs

For UVA Physicians Group (UPG) Advanced Practice Providers, reimbursement requests are submitted through the PeopleSoft MC Team portal. Ensure you have all necessary documentation and approvals before initiating your expense report.
